2014: The Come Back Year

Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 6.03.33 PMI want to write a little about the year 2014. For me personally, it was a rebuilding year. I started 2014 with practically nothing but an a apartment, a solid job and a car. Everything else had fallen apart apart rapidly. But I have come up from nothing before, and I was determined to do it again. I’m a believer in affirmations, and I’ve seen almost all of the things I wrote in December 2013 come true. After the jump, I’ll recap the highlights of my come back year… read more…

I put up the full scroll down version of the webtoonist for #linewebtoon

Recently I was approached by “LINE Webtoon” about helping to get the word out about their “CHALLENGE LEAGUE” contest. I’m currently producing some fun exclusive comics for them to encourage cartoonists to enter their contest…. DJ!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!??! A COMIC CHALLENGE!!?! Didn’t you learn your lesson the first time around?

I know I know! Bear with me here a minute…  read more…

My Desktop 10/30/14

Desktop 10/30/14

It’s early. Ally has packed up her munchkins and headed off to work. Today I don’t have to be in to my day job until 10am, although I usually go in early because I love my job and the folks there.

But this morning I have some sketching to do for a spell. We are between chapters for the next week on God Child, so I use the time to try to learn something new, whether it’s a photoshop setting or feature, or brushing up on the actual craft of drawing.

Like most comic artists I’ve had a lot of aspiring creators ask me “What tools do you use?” so I thought I’d share a photo of my desktop (while it’s clear of clutter!) and what I’m currently using. read more…

Ally says to me… “Hey, I just saw on Facebook that HULK has a beard???” Lo and behold he does indeed have beard and a fantastic mustache to match. But I couldn’t help but think…. what the heck is up with his hand??? I know, I know, the whole “I’M POWERFUL!!!” hand pose…. but to m  It looks like he’s holding something…Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 6.24.38 PM

So I then had to make him holding something…

And then I realized he kinda looks a little like Santa Claus…. SANTA HULK, GO!!!

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 6.39.58 PM

I figured what the heck, I’d actually put the photoshop file together for any fellow artists who want to join in on the fun. There’s a layer you simply pop things into his hand. There is also an optional Santa hat you can turn off and on. You can download the PSD file here. (dropbox link)

If you’re feeling it, go ahead and hashtag it on social media…. #hulkholds or #SantaHulk so everyone can find em on twitter, tumblr or whatever.
