“An honest man will never have any other.”

Labor Day

Lots to do today… barbecue at the inlaws at 2pm, so I’m trying to get some website odds and ends out of the way here, along with some Will Draws.

Also, I made the decision to make a NEW sign for my yard, one that nobody will be able to steal. Instead of donating money to the Obama campaign this time, I decided to go buy some posts, paint and supplies. The two main posts are already cemented in. We know the likelyhood that somebody is going to mess with this sign. Even when digging the post holes someone drove by and yelled out their window “Watch out for the N___ERS!” — even in front of my kids, who didn’t hear what was yelled thank god. It’s INSANE! I refuse to believe that this is the majority of people in this area, that these must just be random douchebags. So my message will go up this week. I’m thinking “Honk for Change” on one side… just to make some noise. And this time, if anyone mucks with this monster of a sign, I’ll be calling in the media and raising a big stink about it.

It would at least give me a great platform to spout off what I think… that why are these people so backwoods minded? Education! They’re taught this at home by uneducated adults, and it’s passed down and down… it’s ridiculous and it needs spoken to. Another perfect example of this, my friend’s uncle moved up from Florida. I was giving them a lift to some place and wearing my Obama ENGAGE shirt I designed for Jonny5, so the topic was brought up. I was on the way to go buy lumber to make the sign… and this guy just kinda says

“Yeah, Obama? I don’t much care for him.”

Why is that?

“I don’t know enough about the guy”

Well you should look into some of the issues you might be surprised. I’d like to see America with some “green jobs”, possibly becoming the main production for cars that run on water.

“You know what we say in Florida, (HYUCK-HYUCK), on the radio they call him OBAMA-NATION. Get it? HYUCK!”

Oh, that’s very clever. Did you know that gas was 1.87 when the republicans took office?

Okay, so obviously, this guy isn’t evenĀ  going to vote for anyone, so I didn’t waste much effort in a debate. I can’t change his mind which is embedded in decades and decades of ignorance. He must be almost 60 and he doesn’t like a guy and can’t say why, but my friend mentioned later that it’s simply because Obama is black. On the drive taking him to his house, I wasn’t paying attention to the conversation in the back seat, but I did hear the guy saying something about African-Americans, and something like “why don’t they just call themselves AMERICAN, gosh darnit!?” — these encounters always turn my stomach a little.. but I know it’s all about the education system in this country. They are the poster children for why we need better educated kids. So this guy doesn’t bother me much. His days are done, his path in life and ways pretty set… but this guy has a 16 year old daughter in the car with him that was just nodding along to everything he was saying, and then adding “yeah, they’re always complaining about everything.”

THAT bothers me. The circle of DUMB. Hopefully that girl can get away from here and learn a little more and keep her head together. She should listen more to her good cousin, who is my good friend. Here’s hoping! This week, I let my kids stay up late on Thursday to witness a piece of American history unfolding. And I reminded them that in the United States, if they apply themselves or follow their dreams, they really can do anything they want to do or be anything they want to be.

Anywho… this week… sign 2.0 goes up. That’s why.

Back to the drawing board.

You might annoy your neighbors with the honking, especially in the morning.
I’d like to see the America Will Be bandanas. BTW, I was bummed to find out that you were out of town when I was on the east coast. Hope I see you next time.
