TGIF

Oh dear. I haven’t been blogging much. Been doing a whole lot more of spending time with my family and enjoying that a great deal. As much as I love all the cool technology and social media and tools, it’s feeling good to go OFFline a lot lately. You also can get a lot more accomplished without all of the distractions of the net in your face 24/7.

With the down time I’ve done a lot of thinking. I’ve had a lot of people bringing up “Hero By Night” lately to me, and it makes me miss it, all the plans I had. A tinge of bitterness rears up about it, but I still have a small sense of hope that SOMEONE at Platinum Studios will come to their senses and realize this project should have gone on and not been put into limbo. At least on the web. People bring up to me the idea that, well, they lose absolutely nothing by letting me own the webcomic rights (and collected webcomic print rights) – it would build the Universe and fanbase up, and i’d just monetize the damn thing myself. Or not. The bottom line is, it was damn good stuff. I hate to see them or anyone else squander it over pride. The whole situation is and has been completely ridiculous on all sides. You know what Marsalas Wallace once said, right?

I think I miss drawing in that genre, either so much so that I would create something new, or do the inevitable and seek out work for Marvel or DC.  I really enjoyed playing around with the super hero mythos and archtypes. I’m down for doing it for fun, but it would be better to make some money at it, no?

House Guest.

We had an unexpected house guest last night, and maybe tonight. Paul, the brother of a good friend passing through Pittsburgh on business, has a really interesting job that you can learn about at www.walkingtree.org , involving Student travel programs that sound and look completely fantastic. It’s sort of like community service spread globally. Teaching young people to be global citizens, helping one another. I love it. I had mentioned to him how I was envious of these travels,  always wanted to see some of these fantastic places, but my wife and I sort of started a family and raising kids right out the gate, the urge to travel didn’t hit me until just a couple years ago. He replied how he was envious of our facts, being married raising kids, and that puts things into perspective for me here. I’ve met a handful of people lately who speak highly of us raising the family here. Perhaps I can send my kids out on these adventures or go with them one day. We’ll see!

9 Days

Until my wife’s tryouts for the Steel City Derby Demons. She’s stoked, but also a bit nervous. But, She’s going to ROCK IT, Def Leppard style. She’s in it for the long haul, and they might not find another gal with so much dedication. I’ve never seen her so serious and passionate about something like this. It’s awesome.

My skating is… EH… I can totally rollerblade now, well, kinda… but the rental skates are crap and hell on my feet. My goal is just to be able to properly couple skate with my wife without her having to pull me. And one day we’ll be the 80 year old couples gliding along.

Back to the drawing board.
