Webcomic creators and Comic Creators, let’s make this simple… THIS FRIDAY, please include mention and or relief links in your regular comics or plan on posting a regular comic encouraging your readers to help the survivors in Japan.

The url COMICSFORJAPAN.COM will then collect any comic related strips at the site along with special aid links.

Here is the message from an old friend and reader of mine who is a teacher in Japan and is doing what he can to help. We can do our part by reaching out to the people who follow our work. Let’s do it and put a small dent in this cataclysm.

http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/japanquake2011.html – This link is for monetary donations. It is a google page made by the Red Cross in Japan. The lowest people can donate is 100 yen which is roughly $2 and change. I don’t expect massive contributions, but every little bit counts.

www.2hj.org -This is a link for Second Harvest a place in Japan where people can ship supplies. People would still have to pay for shipping (which can get pricey), but I am putting it up just in case.

Here’s Jon’s message to me, along with some links you can use or mention in your comics or use right now!

My name is Jon Parrish. You probably don’t remember me as the only contact we’ve ever had was a few messages I sent you on Digital Webbing years ago about how much I enjoyed your work. I followed your work on Yirmumah and even more with Hero by Night (which I still check to this day for updates). Simply put I am a fan.
As of last June, I have been living in Kuji City, Japan and teaching English at the local middle and elementary schools. As I’m sure you are aware, an large earthquake and tsunami have devastated the country. My town, despite being a town on the coast, was for the most part unharmed but many towns around were not so lucky. One of my friends was trapped on the second floor of her office by the tsunami and forced to spend the night there. The worst I had to endure was three days with no water or electricity. Still, many people had it far worse.
Since then, almost as soon as the power came back on, people immediately went back to work (myself included). As I sat at my desk, I kept feeling so frustrated because there was really nothing I could do. The military is overseeing the clean-up and I’d be in the way. I haven’t felt so helpless in my entire life. I have spent hours just racking my brain trying to figure out what I could do.
Which brings me to the point of this message. I am a huge fan of webcomics and I feel like there is a sizable readership there. I was wondering if perhaps you would be willing to help me do something for the relief effort? Nothing major and it doesn’t even have to be art related (perhaps just posting a couple of links on your page). I feel like I can only reach so many people from where I am, but you (and several others) have peoples attention in the form of your readers. I just feel like people will be more likely to listen to someone they know than myself. I know this is coming out of left field but I feel like perhaps if I get the ball rolling that maybe other people will pick up on it. Also, I don’t want you to feel singled out because I am sending messages to as many people I can think of. You were just one of the first people to have popped into my head.
If you have managed to make sense of the rambling and would still like to help in someway, I will just leave you the following links:

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that people far less lucky than I am can get help. Thanks again.

Respectfully,
Jon H. Parrish
